The 1940 movie “Knute Rockne: All American” tells about the famous Notre Dame University football coach, Knute Rockne.
「１９４０年の映画 Knute Rockne: All American では、有名なノートルダム大学のフットボールチームの監督、ニュート・ロックニーの話を伝えます」
coach は、日本では「監督」と言われる立場の人です。コーチが何人かいて、そのトップが「監督」の役割をしている場合は、manager とか head coach と言うこともあります。
He forever changes the game of American football with his invention of the forward pass.
「彼は自分で考案したフォワードパスで、その後のアメリカのフットボールの試合を変えてしまします」
フォワードパスにはいろいろなルールがあり、ここには書き切れませんが、ルール上OKとなるフォワードパスを考案したのがニュート・ロックニーだったようです。
One of his star players, George Gipp, or the Gipper, becomes sick.
「彼のチームのスタープレイヤーであるジョージ・ギップ、またの名をギッパー、が病気になります」
or は同じことを言い換えるときにも使います。
Before he dies, he tells his coach to “win one for the Gipper.”
「彼は亡くなる前に監督にこう言います、『ギッパーのために１勝してください』」
Someday when the team’s up against it, the breaks are beating the boys, ask ‘em to go in there with all they’ve got, win just one for the Gipper.
接続詞を使わないまま、ask ‘em to go の前と in の前にコンマを付けて続けていますので、意味が分かりにくくなっています。
あるサイトで、次の２つの文を見つけました。こうした文から、次のような意味になるかと思います。
「いつかチームの負けが込んで選手たちの心が折れているようだったら、全力で立ち向かってギッパーのために１勝だけでもしてくれと伝えてください」
sometime when the team is up against it and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to go out there with all they’ve got and win just one for the Gipper.
when things were going badly for the team, he should inspire them by asking them to ‘win one for The Gipper
I don’t know where I’ll be then, but I’ll know about it. I’ll be happy.
「そのとき僕はどこにいるか分かりませんが、それは知ります。うれしく思うでしょう」
the Gipper は自分の死が迫っていることを知っており、where I’ll be then というのは「天国にいるだろう」という意味で使っています。

ここで、上のセリフが繰り返されます。
The answer is (B) To seek victory in honor of another.
「答えは『(B) 他の人に敬意を示して勝利を模索すること」です」
Years later, Rockne’s team is losing many games. Rockne repeats the emotional line to his players “and win just one for the Gipper” to help them win an important game.
何年もあと、ロックニーにチームは何敗もし続けます。ロックニーは、大切な１勝を勝ち取るように、繰り返してこの win just one for the Gipper という感情に訴えるセリフを選手たちに伝えます」
help them win「彼らが勝つのを助ける」。help は使役動詞と同じで＜help＋目的語＋動詞の原形＞の形になります。
