Ethiopia’s government on Monday declared an immediate unilateral ceasefire in its Tigray region after nearly eight months of deadly conflict, and as hundreds of thousands of people face the world’s worst famine crisis in a decade.
declared an immediate unilateral ceasefire「一方的な即座の停戦を申し出た」
unilateral は「一方的な」という意味。lateral が「側面」で、bilateral が「両面」。そして「単一の」という意味の接頭辞である uni- が前について unilateral となると「一方的な、片方だけの」という形容詞になります。
ceasefire は「停戦」という意味で、ニュースではよく出てきます。同じ意味の語に truce があります。
after nearly eight months of deadly conflict「ほぼ８か月に及ぶ悲惨な衝突のあと」
conflict は「闘争、戦争」という意味ですが、「矛盾、矛盾する」という意味でもよく使われます。
deadly は「致命的な、生死に関わるような」という意味合いです。

このように、単位を表す語が複数形で使われると、「非常に多い」という意味になります。ここでは「数万」やそれ以上を表します。

so that … can は「～が…できるように」という構文です。
The government said the ceasefire [quote] “will enable farmers to till their land, aid groups to operate without any military movement around, and en… engage with remnants of Tigray’s former ruling party, who seek peace.”
[quote] は「これから話すことは重要ですよ」という意味合いで、ニュースではよく使います。
enable farmers to till their land「農民たちが農地を耕すことを可能とする」
enable ～ to … は「～が…できるようにする」という表現です。
till は動詞で「耕作する」です。意外な意味ですね。
engage with remnants of ～「～の残党と関わりを持つ」
remnant は「（集団の）残存者」。
former ruling party「前の政権掌握者、与党」
The government also said the ceasefire is expected to last until the end of the crucial planting season, and [in] Tigray the season’s end comes in September and Ethiopia’s statement added that efforts to bring Tigray’s former leaders to justice continue.
last until the end of the crucial planting season「種まき期が正念場となる時期が終わるまで続く」
last は「続く」という意味の動詞。
crucial は「重大な、正念場の」。
and [in] Tigray
ここでは Tigray の前に in が必要です。
efforts to bring Tigray’s former leaders to justice continue「ティグレの前の指導者たちを公正に導く努力は続ける」
that 節の中の文で、ちょっと分かりづらい形になっています。efforts から justice までが主語で continue が動詞です。to bring 以降は efforts を修飾する形容詞的用法の不定詞です。そして、bring ～ to …（～を…に持って行く）が続いています。
